I am one of the few people who shed no tears back on November 22, 1963. While I considered the murder of Kennedy a tragic event for the family, I could not stand either the man or his politics. Now, we are seeing all of the garbage about him surface and burst the bubble that some liberals have lived with their entire lives. In retrospect, however, I now consider the fact that Kennedy was elected in 1960 as probably the only thing that saved our civilization. If Nixon had been in the White House during the Bay of Pigs invasion, he would probably not have backed off and, even at that time, Fidel had tactical nuclear weapons and would have used them. Had he skirted that problem, I am equally certain that Nixon would have pushed the Soviets into pushing the button during the October 1962 crisis. Sometimes, it is much better to have a weak sister in the Oval Office rather than a strong man wantabe. Guess this is why King George II scares me so much.
