We've had no contributions to help with the server bill, we have reached a point where we can no longer keep the site going without contributions.

For more details, email me at admin@neoshoforums.com.

How much do you need ?

$10 a head?
and how often?

Mailing address?

It could be that some may wanna contribute say $50 but they don't wanna be the only one to contribute and it not be enough to do any good.

Sorry it took me so long to reply zziggy! I was kind of waiting to see if anyone else posted an offer, but I guess nobody else it going to. I have received a couple of emails from people willing to contribute on a monthly basis, but nothing concrete yet.

I am considering a monthly fee of $10, but I don't know how that will work out since I've had so many people promise money in the past but never received anything. Of course I would appreciate the $50 and would put it to good use, but I understand your concern that it might not be enough. So we are still at the point where we don't know if we are going to remain Online or not.

Anyone who wants to contribute may send check/money order/cash/etc to the following address:

Jack Dickens
17144 Kentucky Rd.
Neosho, MO 64850

Or you can always email me at admin@neoshoforums.com to set up a time to meet at my office on the Neosho Square.

it costs $100 per month to run / host this site?

An ecommerce site with a secure shopping cart etc costs less. some as little as $20/month.

How many crazies, err i mean members are there?
10, 100 ? more maybe?
The cost spread out amongst a larger number would make it pocket change.

I'm sending President Jackson to see you.

We are up to $55 now, only $45 to go! A huge thanks to those who have contributed! I would thank them personally, but so far everyone has sent cash with no real return address... And I guess I don't blame them. :D

And zziggy, the reason the site is so expensive is because we have it on a dedicated server. Our very own server where we can put anything we please, or more importantly, remove anything we please. This is a much better method of hosting. This way if trouble ever arises I can personally take care of it... It is also much more secure than using a different host. Not to mention I couldn't protect the identities of the membership if we used a cheap host. Because trust me, hosting companies will always work with law enforcement, and I won't.

Thanks again to those who have contributed!

I think the idea is to get the membership donating to make the forums self sustaining so just a few aren't footing the bill every month. One in particular has kept us going for months on end out of his own pocket. Let's all help.
Admin does enough without having to worry about and beg for donations. He donates hours upon hours, days on end to the efficient upkeep and running of the forums. We owe him the courtesy of helping sustain the site.
Again, if every member will send a buck or 2 a month, things would be fine. Don't feel limited to 1 or 2 dollars either. There are some ideas floating around that will take some further expenditures. Be a part of it. The more there are, the more we can do.
The address is posted in this thread.

U r right. Admin shouldn't have to do it all himself. Just figure it up and let us know and also, if we all gave a little xtra when we could that would keep money in the bank and allow 4 more things.

A generous member just donated $50, combined with other members contributions is more than enough to keep us going for another month.

As much as i appreciate it, $50 is entirely to much for any one member to pay to keep this site going. All the members need to donate a little each month. Nothing much, I'm talking less than a movie... Somewhere around $5 a month. I think this is more than reasonable and fair. What does the membership think?

Or maybe some of you can find us enough sponsors to keep this site free?

zziggy
08-02-2004, 09:11 AM
i think sponsers are the best way,,,, but mailing in a jackson every 4 months isnt a problem either.

Come on cheapskates, The price of 2 beers or one watered down drink at a bar per month.
