Once again our fat transplant from Aurora is trying to change our heritage. I understand that he is now trying to put new words to a song that has been the Neosho High School anthem since 1928. All I can say to that is, mind your own damned business fat man. That anthem was here long before you graced us with your presence and it will damn sure be there long after we have forgotten you.

We should remind MR. MITCHELL of NeoshoSchools.com. I've a feeling the site may become quite popular this school year.

Yep, somehow I figure the fat man is in for the year of his life.

coupled with doing away with the diverse mascots for the elementary schools was front page news. Naturally I assumed it was just one of many slow news days for the local newspaper but today, I saw the alternative story. Neosho failed in both the communication arts (English) and mathematics sections of the MAPS tests for the SECOND YEAR IN A ROW. Of course, now that folks are thinking how they are going to keep the elementary school mascot names for their kids instead of the failure to educate those kids, it will be easy for the fat man to deflect any of his many critics about the mundane issue of education. I guess the fat man learned well during his tenure as an adminstrator. Give a school system a good sports program that all the people can praise in cheers and song, and you really do not have to educate their children. Way to go Mark, you really are a very adept political animal.

and the Fat Man says that this move will increase school spirit. Somehow, I don't see it that way but since the Fat Man dictates the actions of the School Board, I guess it was bound to happen.

I have spoken to many people today while I was attending school events. Not one, not one person had anything good to say about the new superintendent. There were alot of positive comments about the new principal and how he is trying to foster some sort of school pride in the midst of diffucult situations with the Neosho School system. I suppose Mr. Mitchell's time will be short lived.

And for any of you who want to comment on my statement regarding school pride.....I will say that school pride is important to the kids and even though our schools are in need of physical repair as well as staffing.... there can still be a sense of pride in the accomplishments, whether athletic or academic. Money is not always the issue, it is extremely important, but not always the issue.

Leaderships' attitude.....usually is followed.

Sorry Tincan but I am afraid we have Mitchell just as long as he wants to stay. It seems the School Board, renewed his contract early and even gave him a six thousand dollar per year raise. I guess, based upon how many Superintendents we have had in the past, that job is so hard to fill that the Board would rather have someone who keeps the reinforced seat warm than have to go out and hire a real Superintendent to guide the School System.
