A Message from Wes Clark
September 15, 2004

Dear *****,

As you know, we have now lost over 1,000 American lives in the war in Iraq. We are spending hundreds of billions of dollars there. George Bush still does not have a plan for peace and victory, and there is no end in sight.

What can you and I do about it? Together we can make our voices heard by working for change here at home that will bring us peace, security, and respect. We need to keep fighting for John Kerry, John Edwards, and other good Democrats who are standing up for what we believe in.

Gert and I have been on the campaign trail for the Kerry/Edwards ticket and other key candidates across the country. To keep up these efforts, I need your help.

Help me fight for our values and priorities -- support WesPAC today!

George Bush likes to claim he is a strong leader, one who is forceful in his convictions. But his record of flip-flops in the war on terror suggest otherwise. George Bush opposed the authorization of the 9/11 Commission only to change his mind under pressure from the families of the victims. He opposed the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, then supported it when public pressure forced his hand.

And the biggest flip-flop of all? George Bush promised to make the war on terror his highest priority, but his administration lost focus on Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden. Instead they pursued an elective war in Iraq. And now George Bush no longer believes we can win the war on terror.

This is not leadership. George Bush has deceived the American people, and the American people deserve to know the facts.

We need to work harder than ever to get our message out. And over the next 48 days, I'm going to do my part, barnstorming across America to tell the voters that we can and must do better. This past Sunday, I spent the day in Ohio for John Kerry and John Edwards. And yesterday in Wisconsin, I crisscrossed the state to tell the truth about the continued foreign policy and national security failures of this Administration.

Your help is critical -- you give us the resources we need to get out and work hard for all the Democrats who are standing up to the Bush-Cheney attacks, including John Kerry, John Edwards, Tom Daschle, Martin Frost, Patty Murray, Tony Knowles, and plenty more.

This election is just too critical for us to stay on the sidelines. So whatever you can do, whatever you can give -- please support WesPAC today!

With great appreciation,

Wes Clark

Dear Supporter,

We are at one of the defining moments of this campaign -- one of those points we will look back on when we win. We will remember that George Bush and Dick Cheney tried to completely ignore reality -- and we will remember that we stood side by side and refused to let them get away with it.

George Bush and Dick Cheney wake up every morning with their fingers crossed, hoping the American people will ignore their miserable record, forget their trail of failures, and fear the future. But with your help, we are going to make sure that the American people see through their bluster and posturing, and see what a mess they have made.

George Bush and Dick Cheney have lost over a million jobs, made our health care crisis worse, and turned record budget surpluses into record deficits. They misled America into war, failed to plan for the peace, and are running up a $200 billion bill at the expense of America's middle class taxpayers.

And now they are acting like they are doing us a favor by standing for re-election. They even have the gall to tell the American people how risky it would be if we turned them out of office.

The biggest risk to America's future is four more years of Bush-Cheney's incompetence, misinformation, and ill intent.

Don't let Bush, Cheney and the Republican Party run away from their record. Send a "Don't yield an inch" contribution to the Democratic Party right now:

https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html

There are seven critical weeks left in this campaign. There will be moments when everything seems to be going our way -- and times when we will wish events were moving in a different direction. But we will never lose faith. We will never stop working for victory. And we will never yield an inch to our opponents.

Remember this: they are the ones who are hoping and praying that reality does not catch up with them by Election Day. We are the ones who are going to make sure that it does.

The rest of this campaign will be tough. But, we will be tougher. They will throw everything they have at us. But we will give as good as we get. And when the dust settles on Election Day, we are going to pull through to victory.

Thank you for all you have done to help me, John Edwards and other Democratic candidates. And, most of all, thank you for standing with us through thick and thin. Together, we will win.

Thank you,

(John Kerry)

One thing is certain Shinobi. Wesley Clark is going to do one hell of a lot better job as Secretary of Defense than Rumsfield has done. In fact I can think of no one more qualified to clean up "Rummy's mess". I don't think the nickname is really a function of his name by the way.
