I heard the new Sonic opened on the BLVD sometime last week... Does anyone know what is going to happen w/ the old one?

It is for sale. Maybe some small time Mom/Pop place will buy it.
Too bad that they moved to the blvd. I liked having someplace to grab a bite on this side of town.

I personally think it was a bad move... I think they will lose some business because of it. Kind of like Crown Video closing their North store, pretty stupid if you ask me, just think how much money they are missing out on due to their move.

Well I don't think they are losing much. It's just about full everytime I go by there.

I like the addition of the Drive through, the new location is not any closer to my home than the old one though.

There is no question that the traffic flow on the Boulevard is many times what it is on Coler Street so this move really makes sense to me. Also the fact that it is on the Boulevard will diminish the time per customer that historically was a problem for Sonic Management at the old location.

Pictured below is the old abandoned Sonic...

The new sonic is nice but the hole they dug to put it in is a bit of an eyesore in my opinion. I'm just waiting for a mudslide to come and take it out!

I think I would be a bit more concerned about the elevation of the place Aquabot. It seems to me that that section of the Boulevard in in the neighborhood of 1080 feet and the flood plain magic number is 1107.

I think with the gov'ts money they built a couple of things to help with the flood plain (hole north of old seneca hwy). That has lowered the level of the flood plain.

If that is so Realist, then you would think the City would have the Corps of Engineers redraw the flood plain maps so a bunch of citizens would not have to keep buying flood insurance.

It was a smart move on their part. The number one rule of business is:
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
Sure, they'll miss a few old timers but they moved into a larger traffic area thereby more than doubling their business. Now they can catch school-event traffic. I eat there more often now b/c I spend more time running errands on that side of town, plus it is more convienient to get in and out of.
When our shop was on the square in Neosho we struggled to keep the lights on. But when we made the move to the Northpark Mall our business is more than 10X than is was!
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
From here on out, we'll never choose poor business locations. We're sticking to major shopping centers. Yes, more of an investment and overhead but the traffic is worth it.

They may have doubled their traffic but they have doubled or tripled the wait time. 15-20 minutes in a drive through is no fun when you have a 30 min lunch period.
I love SONICS food though so I put up with the inconvenience of a longer wait.

This is true too. I hate the wait LOL! So I avoid fast food during rush times, then the wait isn't so bad.
