We now have an extra dog. My husband's boss was going to dump her in the woods because she got into it with the neighbor's dog, bit a kid that stuck his hand in the middle of a dog fight and the neighbor will shoot her if she comes around. She's probably over 5 years old and a chubby beagle mix of some sort. I think she was mostly outdoors, but it's too cold for that now, so she's in the house with our 2 cats and Jim, our other rescued beagle that runs our house. Jim would like to her to find a home somewhere else:) and 4 pets is getting a little crazy from my perspective, too.
I think she'd do best as the only dog or with friendly dogs mostly because she is VERY submissive but also really loves attention from people. She doesn't seem to care about the cats but they don't mess with her either. I think she used to belong to a 9 year old boy but she is a little grumpy and got a little nippy with me but I think I touched a spot that was either bitten or grazed by a shot gun. Anyway, send us a PM if you are interested. I can't stand to send her to the shelter since she's so scared already, but we really need to get her to a permanent home!

I have an update on the temperment of said dog. She is working into our family pretty well and is learning about how to be an inside dog. I think she knows some basic commands and is house broken. She's starting to understand that she gets to come back in after going out to potty, too. Please save me from falling in love with this chubby little thing and having 4 animals in my house and 2 dogs in the car, canoe, etc! Seriously, if you are interested in an older pet, I think she's a pretty good fit.

I find that rots are just big babies in general, too. My friend has a rot/beagle mix that is a huge baby. I think my beagle, Jim, is more agressive than most dogs when it come to other dogs, but he'll let a little kid ride him. Now, I have 2 beagle/beagle mix dogs in the house and boy can they make some noise. Thank goodness we can afford a house in AR as this would never fly in the condo we used to live in! I'm sure we'll find something to do with silly Stella, the dog up for adoption, even if we have to keep her for a while.

That sounds like a line from "Doc Hollywood" Admin. "How is Ellen doing with the Pakistani?"

Stella lives in Goodman(I think). My brother found a family to take her through a High School buddy. I hope she hasn't chewed much up and still ahs a home. Jim is good and a little grumpy since he's pushing 9 yr old. He still goes fishing with Jason, though.

Man's Best Friend - that is a truism above all others. I'm constantly amazed by the depth of personality that my own possess, their capacity for forgiveness and joyful nature. I've been fortunate in my circumstances to be able to have two german shepherds, a golden retriever and a springer spaniel with me for the past 2 years or so, and even though their capacity for destruction of my belongings, flower beds and sleep was unmatched, my life has been enriched having these animals share it with me. Here's to the Canine species.
