I'm thinking very seriously about re-opening the old neoshosucks.com site.
So for those of you out there that want to censor this site, block access on public terminals, blacklist my email address and make threats to our members I suggest you reconsider your actions. If you think this site is awful and negative, you've seen nothing yet. Neoshosucks.com was the ultimate Neosho bashing site and it will be up-and-running in a matter of days if this anti-neoshoforums.com crap continues.

As you know, most of us were attracted to neoshosucks.com because we really do think this town sucks. It would be great to go back to the old format and not worry about offending the poor "elitists" of our fair city.

OH~! That would be awsome, I have been saving my shirt in the closet for a good reason.
I thought it would be great for parades and such, but especially if the site was up again.

It is obvious that these people are determined to keep some our members from posting on here, so let's go for it. Actually you could leave this one in place and bring sucks up on the other server, just in case. If I remember correctly, we were at 130 members and a half million hits in three months so we would not even have to worry about any advertising, hey that one went great only by word of mouth. Your call but maybe it is time to give it some serious consideration.

Oddly enough, someone read this post and has offered to buy NeoshoSucks.Com! They use to live here (and hated the place) but now live in South America. I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it yet, but why not? Guess it would be quite difficult to shut it down once it got going considering it would be based out of Argentina. Guess we'll see what happens.

In my opinion you shouldn't sell it. I mean, ANYONE can say, "Neosho Sucks" but it means a hell of a lot more when it comes from someone who lives in Neosho, ya know?
Alexandrea

Exactly...
you don't know much it sucks unless you are currently experiencing it.

You know Alex, if you are not currently stuck in it, or experiencing it, then you really don't give a care as to how much it sucks. It gets awfully tempting to just move away and let the town fathers take the place down the tubes without a backward glance, but there are a lot of good people getting stepped on around here and it really is hard to turn your back on them.

Guess all the threats and other methods of discouraging membership has worked Admin. At this point we have nine posting members and on the old boards with this amount of time we would have had at least thirty to forty. I think it is time to have a membership meeting and really determine if Neosho really needs a forum. If the folks here can be so easily intimidated, then really, who needs it? There are a few other things we can do without public boards, and there are other types of boards we probably need to look at, most importantly a sucks type content. Think it is time to tell the polite society of Neosho what we really think.

Now, Now! Don't give up yet. We can make this work. It mightl just take some time. We need to figure out how to tell people that the threats are really just that, threats. If they sign in anonymously, how is anyone to know who to threaten? Those that would cause problems or threaten us are really just, small people with comicaly enormous egos. Kneejerk reactions are their forte! They speak before they think. They may think they can control the content of the net but that is just their ego's emerging. When they fail, and they will fail, they will go sulk in the corner like the spoiled little children they are.

Real or imagined Shinobi, they still managed to scare a number of the members of the old board away from this one. They were not stupid enough to make a direct threat but all the implied threats are indeed taking their toll.

Sad isn't it? When small minded people think they have control over those they believe to be less important! We see it every day in this town.

and get that site back up. Due to the lack of support we have received here from both the business community or the people in power, I see no reason to be nice to any of them for any reason. For that reason, I do believe there will be a few very negative comments on the sucks site when it does get up and running. And I plan to buy everything I use in Joplin from now on. If the business people do not want to support us and if the city is only going to spend tax dollars on the golf course and that durn cave dig, I will be durned if I give any of my business to them. Let Cole really cry about lack of tax money.

How in the world can that place be handy Shinobi? Park a half mile from the door, make your way past the three dozen people trying to decide which cart to select, navigate through aisles blocked by people reading labels, dodge kids running through the aisles while their parents have a fight with each other, fill your cart with secondary merchandise at prices no different from any other store except for the items you originally came for, which are not stocked today, look for one of the few check out stands open, stand in line while customer and clerk fight over the price of some item or other, wait while the customer searches for enough pennies to avoid breaking another bill, endure while the clerk struggles to check you out, push the loaded cart which will not run straight through the mass of folks congregated at the door, cringe while some person, who does not know what a crosswalk is, barely misses you and, finally, arrive at your vehicle in time to see some new arrival on one side slam their vehicle door into your vehicle and the person on the other side push their empty cart into the other side of your vehicle as they prepare to speed out of the parking lot. I guess if you want to have that kind of convience, you have my sympathy.

I understand what you are saying Scutter. I do most of my shopping after work at like 1:30am and after. I really don't have to fight the crowds and I rarely have to park more than 4 or 5 spaces from the door! Now on weekends when I have to go out there during the day or early evening it is just as you describe. But I try to keep trips out there at those times to a minimum.

Haven't you all heard???? Evilmart is termed CRUEL AND INHUMANE PUNISHMENT. Not to mention INSTANT DIVORCE when your spouse has the credit card or checkbook. I prefer to go to the smaller places like we used to do. It's more FUN. Later all, Iceman---

Well xcop, unfortunatly you're correct. For the most part, the square is dying slowly. I've got to admire some of the store owners up there though. It's not easy when you've got EVIL-MART around. That's why I go downtown ( sounds good, eh??) to get what I want. Only go to UGH!!! evilmart IF I have to. Later, Iceman---

The square died a long, long time ago Iceman. It has fallen into a semi slum type condition from which it will never re-emerge in our lifetime. That is indeed the shame of this idea of business constantly moving to the convienence of the Blvd or the Walmart area. In the wake we have small businesses which will probably not survive and will lead, in turn, to another downward sprial. In a way I tend to blame the County for this. Between the Sheriff and the County employees, the square is so parked up with their vehicles, there is not enough parking to accomodate the shoppers and hense, the store owner determines to get the heck off the square. For what it is worth xcop, Florshiem has a factory store at the strip mall at I 44 and Rangeline.

It's unfortunate that the square is dying a slow death. I still go downtown and walk around the square and window shop. I remember my folks taking my brother and me to window shop a long time ago. It brings back some fond memories. It's companies like evil-mart that are destroying our towns and cities. I like to go down-town and leisurly stroll around, and see what the stores have in their window fronts. One night there was quite a few people there doing the same thing. The cops were also keeping an eye on everyone there. I think that made a coupla them nervous. I didn't care. I do like those new lights they've put up. I thought about what it'd be like to buy a store and live above it like the couple that bought the old OTASCO store. At least you wouldn't have a yard to mow. At times the view would be nice. I thought about the good and the bad aspects of life like that and decided that if I was younger, I might go for it. Not now though. Later. Iceman---

It is not the fault of Walmart that the square is dying Iceman, it is our fault. It seems that we live in a town which does not support local business when they think they can save a nickel by going to Walmart. That corporation is a town killer and always has been. It seems that people just do not realize that the "Mom and Pop's" just cannot compete with the "biggies" because they do not do the volume to maintain a low overhead. When the biggies first come to town, they offer enough of a discount to draw people away from the local business and then, when those businesses are gone, the prices go up. Problem is, in the process jobs are lost and competition is gone and the biggies are looking for a new town to loot.

Expect NeoshoSucks.Com to be back within the next couple of weeks!!!
Only difference is it will be a fee based site... A sort of closed private forums. Membership is $100 setup fee and either $10-$20 a month... We haven't decided yet.
And don't worry, we plan on leaving this site up free of charge so everyone will still have a place to vent publicly!
Let me know what everyone thinks...
I look forward to joining your site. Couple weeks will come soon, I look forward to posting on this site.:) :D

Okay, I've already decided that the new NeoshoSucks.Com will be a fee based membership of $10/month. Now, what I ask you all is how much should the initial setup fee be? I am thinking $100.
Remember some of the benefits are: your own free @neoshosucks.com email address, it will be a PRIVATE forum where visitors can not view your/our posts, and you will be a part of Neosho's elite website (HAHA!), among other advantages...
Let me know what everyone thinks via PM or email.
