This afternoon, a helicopter has been hovering for quite some time. I was wondering if something had happened, someone missing, or if it was just a prolonged session for the Spy in the Sky. Has anyone heard of any situation arising that there would be some sort of search for a person? We're north of town.

Did you happen to notice the markings on the helo EmissaryScribe?

Scutter,
It was small and black with a white "stripe" around the windshield and doors. I couldn't see a number or letter anywhere on it and it got close enough to see that if it were in the usual place. I heard it for what seemed like a couple of hours, and then went out on my deck and watched it make two very low hovering passes and now it's gone. It wasn't the usual military helicopter that we've seen before.
Thought there might be some sort of a search going on.

Probably a private contractor doing a power line survey EmissaryScribe. Searching for drugs or people you would have had a UH1D, painted olive drab with a National Guard Crew if seaching for drugs or lost people or Silver and Blue if it was an Air Force Helo searching for a downed aircraft. The State uses fixed wing aircraft for Conservation issues.

Well I stand corrected. I guess the Highway Patrol now has it's own Helo. Looks like one of your neighbors got busted for marijuana production EmissaryScribe.
has had one for at least 10 yrs.. I remember one crashed up in greene county about 8 - 10 yrs ago.

Thanks Kosa. I guess I am behind the times. Last I remember they were flying C-182's and using NG UH1D's for drug intervention.

Thanks Scutter,
I spoke with one of our neighbors and she said she'd called the sheriff's office to enquire when it was going on. She was told she needn't be concerned about it.
When she told me that, I was fairly sure it was a bust of some kind.
