I finally know the secret as to why Jan Blase is wanting to tear down a bunch of buildings to build parking lots. It seems, due to Jan's seventies era sense of aestetics, Jan has totally done messed up our Municipal Parking Lots. It seems that rather than just repaving and sealing these lots, ole Jan has gone whole hog and is putting concrete islands all over them. Now, this does more than assure you that your doors will be constantly dinged every time you park there, but it also removes a good forty percent of the parking spaces from any given lot. Now I am sure that Jan had to work overtime to come up with this idea to insure that all the grant money was spent and to give him an excuse to buy and destroy more buildings for parking and I applaud him for that effort, however, I consider it totally wasted. I firmly believe that the time could have been more effectively used to think up new names to call City Hall, the Public Works Building and our Sewage Treatment Plant.

Is this what is happening with the Court Annex parking lot? We went for a drive there the other day and noticed they had someone tearing out the big chunks of pavement and wondered why they were doing that.

Yes Elsie, he is doing it to every parking lot in town and we are losing one hell of a lot of parking space in the process. I just have one very dumb question: Where in the hell is the Mayor and the Members of the City Council that are supposed to oversee the actions of this guy?

Good question Scutter.....sounds like the mighty Blase is out of control and the others must have their heads stuck up .....errrr in the sand.

I drove by the parking lot south of Jon's Pharmacy the other day and saw the huge islands in it. My first thought was, a car could park there!

My mom tells me the streets of the square is to be narrowed and have wider sidwalks. She says there are plans to plant trees around the square again. They did that once and when the trees got big the roots buckled the sidewalks and store owners complained that their businesses were hidden. Maybe this wont be a problem now since there are NO businesses on the square anymore.

You guys need to run the idiots that are ruining your city out of town. When you get rid of them, we will send Donna Fullerton to you!:D

I never thought I would ever say this SWMO, but after dealing with Blase and Birdsong, dealing with Donna would be a welcome relief. I assume she is still as much of a screaming terror as she used to be.

All is pretty quiet on the council now. She has "her" people on there so she is happy. Not much controversy so all is well in the big city.

I wish I could say that about Neosho SWMO, however, things just ain't right here in "Blaseville". I guess it is time to face a hard truth. Consultants do not make money if somebody is not looking to change things. It does not matter whether that change is for the better or not, their business is change. Another hard truth is that Consultants get most of their business from personal relationships they formulate with City Officials and go to great lengths to make sure those City Officials are "remembered" well. As I look back over the Blase tenure, I see a continuous line of Consultants lining up to take their turn at the Neosho Money Trough.

It seems that Miami, Oklahoma beat Neosho by several decades in widening the sidewalks, narrowing the traffic flow lanes and adding "green islands" to their streets. Well, this week they are celebrating the completion of a major cost project to tear the durned things out and widen the streets back to where they were before the City spent a whole bunch of money on this idea which was "outdated" even before they did it. I have always said that Jan Blase and his "buddy consultants" are still living in the Seventies and, I believe, his idea to narrow the Neosho Square just proves that without a doubt. The removal of his "upgrades" to the Square and to the City Parking Lots will be just another cost our children are going to have to bear long after Jan Blase has taken his money and run.

did anyone see all those big school buses in town on Friday. They had to be parked all over town on public streets because they couldn't get them in the parking lots.

It was good to have the kids here, but how stupid it looked to see big buses parked on the street beside empty parking lots.

Is ANYONE with power and authority in this town awake at all? Please stop the destruction NOW!

We can do it in April by not returning two members of the City Council to the seats they have occupied while the destruction has run rampant.

is going to explain the eight million dollars in deficit spending this year? I am certain he will blame all us Citizens for not paying enough in taxes. You know, I seem to recall that we brought this guy in and gave him two priorities, water and streets. Now he has been here a while and we have a new Airport Terminal Building, a new Old Church Building, a lot of renovated parking places, a bunch of new Codes, a lot of new Administrative Personnel, a bunch of renamed buildings, new golf carts, a new road to nowhere, a bunch of new blue trash cans lining the streets and are eight million dollars more in debt. Funny thing, the water and sewer leaks are getting worse and the roads are too.

The way I see it, as soon as somebody in a wheelchair files a lawsuit, the City is going to have to tear up that half million dollars worth of sidewalks and move the lights to one side or the other. This will end up just being another Jan Blase Mess Up and this one will only cost us yet anouther half million dollars to correct. Folks, we really can't afford his guy.

They will be planting flowers in them.

That is just great Never Again. More containers for dead flowers. When are they going to learn that the only plants that grow in Neosho are the weeds growing up through the sidewalks. By the way, welcome to the Forums.

I've heard that someone has already written a complaint about the lights in the middle of the sidewalk.

I understand that litigation is in Neosho's future. Thanks a lot for being so damned dumb Jan.

Good luck contacting the mayor. I sent him an e-mail a couple weeks ago and he never got back to me. He must be really busy. Does he do crossword puzzles?

Scutter

Naw, he is busy trying to figure out how his Consulting Business is going to survive now that he is no longer going to be the Mayor.

I can not imagine wishing to consult him for anything. Man must have rocks in his head.

Nope, not really Xiang, he had a Political Position that he could make Consulting Dollars on. It is our fault, not his, for not having a strong Conflict of Interest Ordinance and for not having a mechanism to monitor what he was doing.

And after all these other mess ups, Jan Blase comes onto the stage and tells us he has "shifted and spent" money from designated accounts and yet our City Council makes excuses for him and allows him to continue his "reign of destruction" without pause. I do not care how his Contract with the City reads, we have more than enough reason to fire him for incompetence and fight the Contract issue out in Court. We do not have to tolerate this fool any longer, so do the right thing folks, and that is remove Warren and Jeff from the Council in April so we can be done with Jan Blase once and for all.

I hear our former mayor is still on ED welfare running the license bureau....is that true?

Scutter

That is what I heard also Jimmie, I guess it takes Howard a bit longer than most other Consultants to make any real change. Remember, Howard still thinks it was a "fluke" that he lost the election and he will find another way to worm his way back to the Public Funds.

The real question is, do you really want Jan Blase making any more decisions for you? It is going to be a long, long time until April.

And now comes Jan Blase to the Courtroom to demand his job back. I guess he figures that he needs to finish the job of planting flowers so he can get another consultant friend to change the City Logo from the flying fish back to flowerboxes.
