This story starts off with a phone call from a temp agency to an employee (a few) during the ice storm recruiting to work for the city of Neosho through an agency here in town that was contacted by the city. This employee commenced to go to work for the city via the temp agency in Neosho (which is also a member of the Chamber). The employees were then told that if they wanted a paycheck, they had to go to Joplin and register with a different agency, one that the city already has a contract with. WHY DID THE CITY NOT CALL THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE? So the office that obtained all the workers for Neosho just got screwed by the city and the city redirected the employees to another agency. :chair:SPEND IT IN NEOSHO...is nothing but BS PR to the leaders of our community.
The local agency received nothing from the city, no pay and no thanks. The agency brought it up with the city and were ignored and never recieved compensation for the drug testing of said employees or the time it took during an ice storm disaster to find people willing and able to show up. Not to mention the lack of power during this time and the extra work put in by the agencies staff.
This campaign for "spend it in Neosho" is truly only for the looks, it does not apply to city, some members of the Chamber and also Jeff Werneke's Company. Neosho Box and Wood, Jarden, and also the city of Neosho all use Joplin agencies to provide labor, some use another based in Springfield. Please let me know if you are aware of others that are investing in Joplin and it's people, not Neosho. Not very good for the community and also for those registered to this local temp agency, or the public funds that paid for this (excuse me) BS campaigning for SPEND IT HERE.
IT'S ABOUT TIME THESE PEOPLE PRACTICE WHAT THEY PREACH. It really is upseting to know that they are not walking the walk, but they surely are talking the talk when it comes to the gimmie gimmie gimmie mentality. This group does not deserve public funds, not at a time like this. In addition to the horror stories that I have heard from those that have asked the Chamber for help, the mission statement is a crock of poooooo
Support the local economy is a factual farce, they are in it for the public funds, and there is a large amount of subsidy to the Chamber and it's patronizing Joplin mentality $$$$$.
I hope this causes no stress for the agency, but people have a right to know and demand that Neosho does what they say and also openly discusses what they do. We the public paid for a campaign that they themselves disregard.
