We spent all that Money to fix Jefferson street, and add a storm water system to stop the flooding on the square, which did'nt work (poor planning) according to Jan Blase in the NDN. So now he wants 750k in stimulus Money to "lower" the surface (does he mean the streets around the square?) and install an another underground (sewer) drainage system, so the curbs don't fill with water. Won't this make for the water to flood the middle of the streets? Since the streets will be alot lower than the curbs? If this A$$HOLE wants to lower the streets, let's say 1 foot, all we will have for 750k is a 1 foot deep wadding pool. Because Jefferson did'nt do the Job it was supposed to, odds are Jan will screw this up also.

Why is'nt the 8.5 million sewer taxes covering this sewer job? Or, will it cover the job, and Jan just want to line his pockets.

Call me Crazy, but this is how I see it happening....

1) Jan Blase will have the streets lowered around the square & sewer put in under the streets.
2) Later, Jan Blase will have the new streets torn up and narrowed, during which the new sewer will be damaged, and covered back up without repair.
3) Then Jan will have the sidewalks and part of the new street torn out, to widen the sidewalks to 8-10 feet wide, doing more damage to the already damaged sewer system, and covered up yet again without repair.
4) Now that we have new streets & sidewalks, the street lights will have to be removed due to age (2 yrs old), and brand new lights will have to be installed 4-6 feet closer so to be next to the narrowed streets.
5) Then , we will have to pay again to have the new street lights re-installed, because the "new" light poles are to high (or, Jan can ask for more $$ to raise all the buildings around the square, so the new lights don't shine in peoples windows).
6) Finally, Jan will have fountains installed on all 4 corners of the square, and the City will mistakenly hook up the fountains, to the damaged sewer lines, and we will all see "raw sewage" cascading out from the top of the fountains.

Only then will the people send this A$$HOLE packing.

NOW CALL HIM "CRAZY"

What else is crazy is thinking that the church they just bought will only cost the city about 30k to tear down.

Griz, I seem to remember that the State of Missouri has some very stringent laws concerning the changing of natural water flow so Jan may be using that three quarters of a million dollars for legal fees. And Chris, I couldn't agree more. What difference would it make to let that Church Building set vacant another few years. Hey, when we finally reach the point where we ain't paying Blase and his Assistants a half million dollars per year, we might even have the money to retrofit the Church Building.
