Kay Hively had some very good points in her feature article in the Daily News today. She was talking about sidewalks and I quote:
"If we residents could have sidewalks as good as the cart paths at the golf course, wouldn't our neighborhoods be better?....I hope one day our city fathers will put those of us who live in town on the front burner for a change, and spend some money in the neighborhoods instead of putting so much money, labor and time into some future they are dreaming about. I'm old school enough to think you tend to what you have before you start buying more to care for."

Kay is right on in her analysis and if anyone doubts what she is saying, I invite them to look at the pictures we have of the disrepair of our current sidewalks on Neosho Streets.com.

I find it interesting that Kay is a respected member of this community and is not known as someone who just "bitches and does nothing else" like everyone else is known for on the forums. Maybe people will pay attention to what she says as they don't seem to want to when others state the same thing. I am glad she gave her opinion and I totally agree with her. Thank you Kay for your comments in the paper. I hope others will start paying attention that there are problems and we all need to start working together to solve them. Do not pretend they are not there because they are and the sooner that is realized and constructively worked on the better for the citizens of Neosho. As they say the first thing you must do to solve a problem is to know you have one.

Neosho should probably start with a new city manager that lives in this town. I'm not going to kick "ol Cole, but it stands to reason that if the guy lived in the city and is an actual resident, he would be more concerned about the people and how they value Neosho, instead of just driving home everynight and forgetting we live here and want to make this community better. Knock,Knock...anybody out there listening?

Kay, if you are reading the NF, I just want to say thanks and you go and kick some serious butt!

Swatter, you make a very good point. I think the town is by us the way I am by George Bush. Hey, he opens his mouth and I shut down and walk away, and I think that is the same thing the city fathers do in regard to us. They cannot, however, disregard the comments of solid citizens like Kay Hivey and that is why it is so important that those people, who will be listened to, are forthcoming in relating problems which are currently being ignored.

has started. By the simple fact of a respected citizen speaking out, other more timid souls are now starting to speak up about the current state of the management of our City. I have to tell you that I take a lot of heart in the fact that the NDN ran an editorial which was critical of the City's handling of the Armory Issue and I have to believe that this is part of a long needed trend in this town. Thank you Buzz for finally finding your voice.
