Let pack the square Saturday Nite. Anyone and everyone that has a car should drive it down to the square saturday nite. We have tried this before and got into trouble for playing loud music, but other than that the cop had nothing more to say to us. He was excited about it and was just glad we found something to do rather than drugs or drinking.

I would love to do that but it will never happen again like it use to. I'm working on getting morse park for a saturday night hang out & will be able to play loud music & just hang out. I'm going to the next city council meeting to work out something on Morse park sports for next year. They have asked me to get a group together & run the sports program. I'm going to work out the details with the council & if it goes our way we will be able to have saturday night hangout & alot of other things.

I would challenge anyone who wants cruising in Neosho to come visit Main St. in Joplin at about 10:30 pm on a Friday or Saturday night.....careful what you wish for. It'll be fun the first couple of weeks then you will be begging it to stop. Nothing says good time like crowds of delinquints drinking, fighting, and urinating on cars/buildings......UNLESS of course, you are one of the delinquints....then I can't think of anything more fun !!

Back in the day, cruising the Square was our big time entertainment. It was a place to see and be seen, to meet your friends and to hang out. I honestly don't remember any major problems ever happening, nothing that wouldn't have happened some place else.

There a lot worse things our teenagers could be out doing than cruising the Square and unfortunately, many of them are doing worse things every week.

Doc, Neosho has never had the magnitude of the problem Joplin has had on Main Street. Even back in the fifties and sixties, there was no comparison. Mostly the Square was a place for the kids to gather and maybe use the free public restroom in the Courthouse, and I do not remember a time I was there that it ever got out of line. Mostly it was pretty mellow and not all that loud.

The loft people and the banker would not like you doing that in their front yard. You must realize the square is no longer a business area but a residential area now.

It can't be David, it is zoned Commercial and no Special Use Exemptions have been granted for it.

Maybe in theory but not in practice!

You make a very valid point DOC with “careful what you wish for”. It sounds as if you’ve studied this activity.

Come on David, they moved to the Downtown Lofts to be part of the excitement of living at the center of a thriving nightlife in the town centre. If they had wanted peace and quiet then they would have moved into the City Trailer Park.

What time is the cruise Saturday night?

I fear that Cruising the Square in Neosho is a page of history that has been turned, just like the pages for Fort Crowder, Rocketdyne, the CRC and a vibrant Square.
