Ok, I just haven't had the time to keep up with this section and I apologize. I envisioned a new review every week..........but that hasn't happened. So here is a quick list of bands that I enjoy and think everyone should give a listen to. Approach with a open mind!!

1. Fantomas - Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn, Buzz, and Dave Lombardo.....the best supergroup you've never heard of.

2. Ween - These guys are just great. I would get White Pepper or Chocalate and Cheese. These guys are great fun.

3. Outkast - the new album is so great. Sets the bar for all rap to come.

4. Meshuggah - polyrhythymic extreme metal at it's finest!

5. Black Labesl Society - A true dose of old school heavy metal from Ozzy's guitarist Zakk Wylde (how about that for a great metal name, neh?).

6. Deltron 3030 - Fantabulous rap album! Del the Funky Homosapian pairs up with Dan the Automator for a fresh and funky album.

7. Down - Southern metal created by some of the best in the business. Phil Anselmo puts out his best work ever on the self-titled album.

8. Mr. Bungle - 3 albums, 3 distinct moods, 3 snapshots of genius. Yet another Mike Patton project. This is the band Faith No More wanted to be.

9. Dimmy Borgir - Let's see.......how about this for a description:
Norwegian Black Cinematic Metal. Get the picture? Great stuff!

10. Helmet - What does a jazz guitarist do when he gets bored? Oh, just starts one of the most influential metal bands of all time.

More to come later..........

WEEN has long been one of my favorite bands... Deaner and Gener rock! I dig all their albums, but my favorite has to be Pure Guava... Push The Little Daisies and Make 'em Come Up, Spinal Meningitis, Flies on My **** and that song about the brother killing the other. Great stuff! And even better live!

And hey Aquabot, do you know Mareike and Melissa Hornick? They are always on the WEEN guest list and hang out with them when they are in Columbia, Fayetteville, etc. I hear Dean and Gene are just as crazy in person as they are in their music.

Have you heard Live at Stubbs? It came out last year. A 3 disk live set that just smokes! A great cover of Van Halen's Hot for Teacher plus a 42 minute version of Prince's Let Me Lick Your *****. Great stuff. And yes, Pure Guava is classic. Spinal Menengitis (has got me down) is one of my all time favorites.

Have you heard their Pizza Hut commercial? Hillarious!

The Prince tune would be "Shockadelica". And "Spinal Meningitis(Got Me Down)" was off of "Chocolate and Cheese". "Cheese" was never a Pizza Hut Commercial. "Live at Stubbs", a fine piece of live Ween. "Pure Guava", definately classic! All Ween is good Ween. Oh yeah, That's Right!

10 years later and this album is still relevant and inflential. his label remixes of this album are also excellent. i hear both entire tracks and snippets being used as the backbeat by world class dj's here in chicago (e.g. tiesto, sander k, deep dish). relatedly, the x-ecutioners also have some doc oc remixes floating around on the net, but the ultimate is a sander kleinenberg remix from crobar nyc....dj dan over chemical brothers over doctor octagon.

Motorhead
Black Sabbath
Ozzy
Poison
Dokken
ACDC
Among many others of like kind

I'm reliving my metal years of yore. Nothing cooler than having the throttle open on 900cc, an open road in front and Ace of Spades in the ears.
