33% remain of the above mentioned. About 100 years of experience gone.

Don't worry Chris most of those folks got better jobs that is why they left. Besides Neosho has always been a good stepping stone to get free training to get a better job.

Sorry Larry I'm gonna have to disagree a little on that one. Many of the officers who are gone wanted to make careers out of working in Neosho. Circumstances lead them a different way. Remember that there are still great officers at the NPD. There are great officers who are no longer at the NPD also.

I think the thing that concerns most of us is the turnover in the "Supervisory Ranks" Chris. It is time to end the "Up AND Out" policy that has long defined the Neosho Police Department.

I was told by an ex Cpl. he was forced to resign because he didnt write enough tickets. Is that illegal? Writing tickets should only be around 10% of an Officers duty. Im more interested in the part of an Officers job description, Protect and Serve the Public. There is lots of bad guys around these days. But it seams that writing tickets to hard working Citizens in massive amounts is more appropiate to keep your job.

My personal favorite was the Sergeant who was asked to resign because of a schedule error which resulted in the City having to pay overtime on eight hours in one month.
The real question is, how do we take the Politics out of the Neosho Police Department? My answer would be to allow them to Unionize. Before you panic on that, just remember that most of the Police Departments in the Country are Union.

At least for the most part unions protect jobs.

Well Chris, when no one has ever retired in the history of Neosho Police it might not be a place to work. The two folks that need to Retire are Still there and they are the ones in control of the policy" if you out Shine us" or "out Whine us" you will no longer work here. Lets grade them on there ticket writing? none "Fire them" save the city money and replace them with cpl.and sgt for the half the pay.

I suspect there will be a lot of changes before the smoke clears in Neosho Larry.
