Would you care to enlighten the rest of us Befair. Like just what the heck are you talking about?

All right Befair, I was unaware this was taking place but, once again, it is an example of this City violating the rules once again. I was aware that some of the condemned property was being rented out by the city, also a violation, but never thought they would go so far as to spend city money for real estate speculation. Truth is, this is a no-no. If they want to gamble with public money they have to set up a seperate entitity called a Housing Authority and get Federal sanction for it. Gawd, where did these guys come from and just how the hell did they get the authority to gamble with our money?

That area is not zoned for family housing and if they try to get it rezoned, then we will have to revisit all of the objections the City had to changing the zoning on the Bond/Betts property and take a really close look at the City's purchase of that property.

Sounds to me like another of those "sweetheart deals" which may just land someone in jail this time.

I confirmed this evening that the City did in fact purchase the property located @ 931 Burr Crossing Road. Now, what exactly are they going to do with it? Makes a person wonder, eh?

I tell you true Befair, if they rezone the Bond/Betts property to residential, I am going to file suit on them.

If you read last night's City Council minutes in the NDN today you will find the following:
"Birdsong stated that with the reports of the city offices that he would like to have a planning and zoning study done in the near future.
"The last conprehensive study that wd did was in 1982. I would like to set up a time before the the first meeting between two members of the P and Z and two members of the economic development committees to broaden and analyze it," said Birdsong.
"Furthermore, with this study, I would like to project a mile outside the city limits to see what could be where in years to come, inclluding where to build housing additions or set aside for commercial property," said Birdsong."
Now, anyone want to tell me again that this damned City ain't going to rezone the Bond/Betts property and put in that housing development that this City paid three quarters of a million dollars to stop. I smell a stink in South East Neosho and it leads all the way to City Hall.

Yep City Worker and you just wait and see what happens just as soon as they rezone that property. I have really been waiting a long time to get a chance to go after some of those folks.

for bringing up the subject of the Bond/Betts property on the forums and have no end of bad words to describe us. Be advised folks, we do know what is being said and some of the reasons you all do not want us talking about the issue. Moral of the story, if you want to gripe us out, get on here and do so, make it public rather than talking behind our backs, if for no other reason than some of the people you are griping to just happen to be members.

Does anyone know who bought the three acres of prime frontage on the Bond/Betts property from the city for twenty grand?

Cole and Company is now going to sub-divide the property condemned and purchased by the City for a road they knew would not be built and now we see that the back room deals are still alive and well in Neosho.

This one stinks a bit more than most of them Larry. Trust the fact that if the "wrong" people had not ended up with the Bond/Betts property, that tract would have been rezoned in a heatbeat.

You all ready for this. I understand that the ownership of the Bond/Betts property has been transfered to Economic Development. I also have been told the amount of money that the City has put into those two old houses at Burr Crossing. I am also given to understand that those thousands and thousands of dollars came out of the Street Fund.

Does anyone know anything regarding the huge lots of land that was sold by Blue Ribbon turning into Western Hills Subdivision on Hwy 71 past the Griffins Chevrolet Dealer?

Well, it seems after I posted the question above on the forums the Blue Ribbon "SOLD" signs were immediately taken away. Is someone trying to hide something regarding the land purchased?
Well, this is Neosho so all I can assume is Yes when it comes to major areas of Land for Sale and the sale is kept a secret.

Funny thing, the City buys an "eyesore" outside the city limits to eleminate it and yet the City owns the biggest eyesore in the county out at Burr Crossing. It is time to eat the wasted money Cole spent on moving these two houses to that location and renovating one of them and just bulldoze the houses and unkempt land they are sitting on.
