Neosho has an agreement with the state to stock trout in Hickory Creek. I believe the trout come from the Roaring River Hatchery, mostly. Is this agreement still in place? If so, does anyone have details of this?

I don't have an answer for you Ex but I do have a question,
Why Roaring River when we have Fish Hatchery right here in Neosho?
This sounds like a bit of Govt bungling to me.

Roaring River is a State Facility.

Our hatchery stocks Hickory Creek only once per year that I'm aware of, & that is after the kids fishing derby, they take all the extra fish & releas them locally, or at least that is what they did last year. I do not understand why we couldn't stock our own stream? When they started advertising it as a trout stream there was talk of making it much like Roaring River, but as stated in many other threads the "Dream" innitiative" got in the way...
It is a very beautiful stream & has potential to be a really productive trout stream, I've been fishing there since I was old enough to walk that far.
I am just curious as to what the City is doing with that contract, or if any money was set aside for this project & moved to do other things.

When my kids were little we enjoyed Hickory Creek as a great place for them to play & just enjoy a bit of nature.
They tried to fish there but never had much luck.
With the downsizing of the chicken plant it should eventually become cleaner too.
I wasn't aware that the city was trying to improve it; what are/were the plans?
It was nice that the junk store near the HWY 60 bridge closed and the view was improved.

The only thing that got in the way of Jan Blase's dream of Roaring River West were the property owners who did not feel inclined to give their property away at "City" prices.
